Bev is 58 and is a foster carer for Warrington Borough Council. She has been fostering for three years.
Why did you become a foster carer?
“My own children were grown up and I thought I could help other children.”
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your family?
“I am a single carer with three grown up children, one still at home. I have two foster children who have been with me for three years.”
Who lives at home?
“Me, my son, two 2 foster children and two cats. My foster children love our cats and help to look after them.”
Do you have any advice for anyone thinking of becoming a foster carer or starting the process?
“Do lots of training and speak to other foster carers. I love making a difference to my foster children’s lives. They have been challenges like getting my older foster child to school but lots of positives too. It’s nice when they settle in your home and family.”
What have been your best memories so far?
“Christmas is always special. My family have been very supportive and my own children think if the girls as sisters. I’m so glad I became a foster carer.”
How do you find the support we give you?
“The support is really good. I have good relationships with other foster carers who have become friends.”
