Fostering Information Sessions are friendly and informal sessions which give you an opportunity to understand more about what fostering entails and ask any initial questions you may have. They are held by Fostering Support Workers at Foster4 who you will have probably already spoken to or had email correspondence with. Fostering information sessions run for 45minutes – 1 hour and take place virtually and in-person every few weeks to give you plenty of choice to attend around other commitments you may have.

Information sessions include a presentation which covers topics such as what is fostering? What makes a good foster carer? The different types of fostering, what the role involves and the process to become a foster carer.

After the presentation there is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Where possible we will also ask a foster carer to attend an information session to share their experiences with you and you can ask them any questions you may have about the role of a foster carer. We appreciate you may not wish to ask some questions in a public setting so we give you a call back afterwards to discuss your individual circumstances.

You can come along to a session if you are interested in fostering now or in the future. If you would like to start your journey to become a foster carer after attending an information session and we feel this is appropriate, we will complete an expression of interest form with you. This is then sent to your Local Authority fostering team and they will complete an initial visit to your home to discuss your interest further. If, after attending an information session you feel now is not the right time for you that is absolutely fine! We are happy to go at your pace and speak again when you feel ready to start your fostering journey.
