When a child enters care, they are assigned a Social Worker from the local authority.
Supervising Social Workers provide Foster Carers with the support, advice, and guidance they need to ensure a successful fostering placement.
Supervising Social Workers will be the Carer’s main point of contact and will work closely with them throughout their entire fostering journey. They offer continuous support to Foster Carers, as well as advocacy for both the Carer and the child.
Supervising Social Workers are able to adapt their support to suit the needs of the Foster Carer and the children they look after. By being flexible, they can provide the best possible support whenever it is needed.
Warrington, Halton and Cheshire West and Chester councils (the 3 Local Authorities that make up Foster4) ensure that Supervising Social Workers have a manageable caseload. With a reasonable workload, solid relationships can form and cooperation between the Supervising Social Worker, the Foster Carer, and the children they look after can develop and thrive.
The relationship between foster carer and supervising social worker is key in a successful fostering placement. Our Supervising Social Workers are experienced professionals who are familiar with the ins and outs of fostering. They understand the challenges that Foster Carers face and are committed to providing the support they need. Supervising Social Workers are key in providing the stability and care that looked after children need, to ensure the best possible outcomes for everyone involved.
Emma, A Supervising Social Worker from Halton, describes her role “It’s truly inspiring. I really enjoy working alongside Foster Carers, these are people coming forward and dedicating their lives to children. It’s wonderful to support them, as they settle children and teenagers into a home and routine. With my help, they are able to form healthy bonds and guide young people through their childhood”
