There is no upper age limit when it comes to fostering, as long as you are physically able to look after a child. So whether you’re 50 or 60+, why not enquire today? Here is Karen’s story…

Karen is 60 and from Runcorn, she has been a foster carer for Halton Borough Council for two years.

Karen has always worked with children and felt she had a lot to give to help children. Karen worked as a childminder for 17 years before becoming a foster carer.

Karen is a single carer, her own children are now adults and she has four grandchildren. Karen enjoys having lots of children come into her care and her first placement was a sibling group.

Karen says she receives great support from other carers and in her spare time she enjoys walking and raising money for charity.

We would love to encourage more people after 50+ to foster. Karen said being a foster carer at the age of 60 she is more relaxed and doesn’t worry if she is doing everything right.
