Foster4 recognise the importance of celebrating the contribution children of foster carers make in the success of fostering. Foster Carer, Patricia nominated her son.
Patricia and her family have been a fostering family for over two years and live in Warrington. Ethan has won Foster4’s Sons and Daughters Selfless Award for sharing his games and toys, being accommodating and being a good friend.
Patricia tells us about the time they welcomed a child into their home during an emergency. The child had been going missing and was brought to their home by the police. Ethan welcomed the child into their home straight away by offering him a drink and showing him his room. Ethan shared all of his games and electronic devices and never moaned.
Ethan played a big part in the foster child having fun and feeling at home, they played football together and Ethan included him in the parties he was invited to. There were some challenges along the way with the foster child behaving roughly towards Ethan on a few occasions, again Ethan never moaned and stayed out of the child’s way.
Patricia told us their whole family have benefited from being a fostering family, they have enjoyed getting to know their foster child and his wider family and helping this child transition back home. Patricia saw positive changes in the foster child including not going missing and being at home when he said he would be. The foster child’s wider family commented on the smile had had on his face rather than a frown. The foster child return to his family and the children parted as friends.
Ethan received a certificate and £25 amazon voucher from Foster4 to recognise the vital contribution he makes to fostering.
