Are you an experienced Foster Carer? Do you have a spare bedroom? Do you live in Warrington or within a 20 minute commute? If so, you could earn £500 per week and up to four weeks annual leave from the Mockingbird role per year, as Warrington’s next Mockingbird Hub Home Carer.

Warrington Borough Council are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate foster carer to join our Fostering service as a Mockingbird Hub Home Carer.

Mockingbird, led by The Fostering Network, Mockingbird is an award-winning programme based on the concept of extended family.  The model nurtures relationships between children, young people and foster families through peer support, social events, sleepovers and support groups from – in the same way Nans, Grandads, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins play huge part in childhoods. With a “Hub Home” at the centre, the Mockingbird programme has huge flexibility to support children and young people at all stages of their journey through care.

Immediate practical support for Foster Carers is one of the many benefits of Mockingbird along with stability for cared for children and young people.  The Hub Home Carer, together with an allocated Liaison Worker, supports 6-10 fostering families, known as satellite foster carers, and is responsible for offering planned and emergency sleepovers for up to 1-3 nights, supporting with day care as and when is needed, supporting family time arrangements, children moving on to independent living, transitioning placements, onto adoption etc and offering regular social and emotional support including but not limited to hosting monthly social events for all of the families, coffee mornings and training and development sessions for the carers.

Experience in supporting a range of different young people and adults, including those with specialised needs is preferable along with knowledge of children and young people’s behaviour and development, safer caring  and the local authority’s role as corporate parent.
