Hub Community Carers are specialist foster carers as part the ‘No Wrong Door’ model. Fostering is an incredible journey – if you choose to join us you’ll receive a generous financial allowance, 24/7 support and fantastic training opportunities. But more importantly, you’ll also have the chance to make a real difference to the life of an adolescent. It is hard work, but also rewarding to know that you’re making a difference to a vulnerable young person’s life.

Contract and Pay
Pay depends on the type of work:

  • You will be paid a continual weekly fee of £170
  • When young person is in placement, you will receive an additional weekly fee of £500
  • When you work as a sessional worker, you are paid at least £10.62 per hour

Key requirements
You will need to:

  • Successful completion of foster care assessment and approval by Warrington Borough Council
  • Available on a full time basis to care for the young person placed
  • Room to support an adolescent placement at home
  • Willing to ‘stick with’ and provide a durable relationship and placement
  • Likes and can relate to young people with complex and troubled backgrounds
  • Commitment to provide life enhancing opportunities and life skills to adolescents
  • Live in the Warrington area or close by
  • Ability to demonstrate a caring attitude that is child centred and relational
  • Be able to offer unconditional positive regard and encouragement to a young person, even whilst challenging unacceptable behaviour if needed
  • Can support when young person not engaging in/attending education, training and employment
  • A car driver, with a vehicle suitable to be used for fostering activities
  • Able to fulfil successful DBS checks
  • Be able to progress through accreditation and complete mandatory training requirements
  • Be prepared to take on a sessional contract within the hub in order to get to know young people who may be placed with you. This can include work with young people in the hub and on the edge of care

Key Experience

You will be expected to have:

  • Substantial experience of working with adolescents with complex backgrounds
  • Understand the impact of trauma, attachment and neglect on adolescents
  • Be able to engage as part of the wider professional team involved in child-centred care and support
  • Uphold high professional standards, including high quality recording and reporting
  • Understanding of child development and effects on life experience
  • Have a particular interest in working therapeutically with children/young people
  • Enhanced skills regarding caring/support of vulnerable young people with complex needs

Support

Support you will receive from the Fostering Team and No Wrong Door Hub includes:

  • Regular Supervision
  • Stand by support available
  • Skills and training development
  • Support from the wider hub team
  • Access to a Clinical Psychologist and Speech Therapist
  • Assessments of each young person’s support needs
  • Development of support plan’s
  • Regular liaison and joint working with hosts in delivering a package of support to meet needs
