Knowsley Council has recently planted four trees to celebrate the four new foster carers recruited in the last year.
The dedicated space, located at Roby Fields, is set to flourish as a ‘fostering woodland’.
The new foster carers were joined by Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, and together they planted young trees as a poignant reminder that new carers are needed to offer safe and loving homes to local children and young people.
One of the new foster carers said: “I’m delighted to be part of this latest tree planting initiative in the borough, recognising the four new foster carers recruited this year.”
Another new foster carer, Hayley, said: “I had read about how foster carers make such a positive difference to the lives of children and young people and wanted to offer a child the opportunity to feel safe, loved and watch them grow and develop.”
A third new foster carer, Becky, said: “I can’t wait to start on my fostering journey in Knowsley and would encourage anyone who is thinking about it to get in touch today.”
Debbie, who has also recently been recruited, added: “Our children have left home and we have a spare bedroom at home that we thought we would put to good use for another child to use. The information and support along the recruitment process was fantastic and I’m really looking forward to welcoming a child into my home.”
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said: “Our foster carers play a vital role in a child’s life and I know that they are passionate about making a difference to their lives – this latest tree planting initiative is just one way for us to say thank you and acknowledge the great work that we do.”
The new trees at Roby Fields have been funded by Merseyforest.
